Pray for Small Worries and Big Dreams.
Things I learned watching Bend It Like Beckham (for what might be the billionth time):
Soccer is a beautiful game. Ya know if you didn’t know that already.
This movie pokes fun at everything and does so in good nature.
The ability to make aloo gobi is apparently very important.
I love all things British. (Duh).
Jonathan Rhys Meyers is gorgeous. I could stare at his eyes all day. That moment when Pinkie opens the door and you see him… dead.
Being in love with Beckham is totally acceptable and common practice.
Keira Knightley is awesome.
Playing football (soccer) doesn’t make you a lesbian!
Indian bride never smiles. You’ll ruin the bloody video.
I was very jealous of Parminder kissing Jonathan. Lucky!
Apparently it takes about 10 white girls to tie a saree.
It is ALWAYS awkward when your dad catches you hugging/kissing a white guy.
Families don’t want a daughter-in-law who can run around kicking football all day but can’t make round chapatis.
I need a gay guy friend. (Currently on the lookout, message with offer).
Gay guy friends who offer to marry you so you can go to the school you want=amazing and quite noble…chivalrous.
Spending a Sunday night watching Bend It Like Beckham instead of writing final papers is a productive use of my time.
All the accents. Just love it.
Lebanese does not mean lesbian.
Asking me if I am “promised to anyone” is appropriate and cute. (Sidenote: asking me if I have an arranged husband waiting for me…is not).
This movie was out in 2002. Ten years ago. This movie is my childhood. Damn, I feel a bit old.
